4. West Torrance, Torrance (Bay) -- Woodbridge mishap is a forgotten memory, with recent outings very solid.
5. Hemet (Sunbelt) -- Courts the balance to remain in the state-meet picture all the way.
6. Damien, La Verne (Sierra) -- Has run noticeably well at Bosco Tech and Nogales/Foothill Invitational thus far.
7. Edison, Huntington Beach (Sunset) -- Front two runners are doing the job, with depth coming along.
8. Foothill (Sea View) -- Nice out-of-section showings have not gone undetected.
9. Cypress (Empire) -- Has evolved nicely despite key graduation losses.
10. Mater Dei (Serra) -- Opened season well, but has five teams breathing down its neck.

1. Mater Dei, Santa Ana (Serra) -- Already a strong team, nut made better by two excellent frosh.
2. West Torrance, Torrance (Bay) -- Two lights-out showings make them best-kept secret in Western U.S.
3. Brea Olinda (Century) -- Had shown periodic flashes of pending greatness, but yet to really click.
4. Edison, Huntington Beach (Sunset) -- Easily the biggest upside mover of the year thus far in this division.
5. Sultana, Hesperia (Mojave River) -- Trying to get a good grasp on what's actually on board this year.
6. Foothill, Santa Ana (Sea View) -- Sensational showing at Stanford tabbed them as a state-meet contender.
7. Capistrano Valley, Mission Viejo (South Coast) -- Maybe they won't even need an at-large berth after all!
8. Woodbridge, Irvine (Sea View) -- Taking a few hits early, but we project good things in clutch time.
9. Newport Harbor, Newport Beach (Sea View) -- Remember one thing: this group peaked superbly in 2003.
10. South Hills, West Covina (San Antonio) -- Trying to prove its worth after miving up in division.
