IMPORTANT 2010 CROSS COUNTRY INFORMATION

Catalina Trip has been cancelled due to lack of necessary involvement.

Save the date! August 14th we will be having a family and alumni bbq and fun day at the Newport Aquatic Center. Event will start at 11:30am and will finish whenever we get tired of having fun. We ask that you please RSVP through our Facebook event page. You must be registered and logged into Facebook in order to view the page. Here is the link. More details will follow as they become available.

Be sure to check below for practice locations and times. Directions to all practices are in the "Weekly Events" section. We have done are best to try to provide rides for kids to both Crystal Cove and Ridge Park, but we may run into situations where we do not have enough drivers for all the kids. Please do not just drop off your son and assume they will be getting a ride to practice. Make sure!

Be prepared each day at practice. This means watch, warm-ups (yes it's hot, but you still need them), water and a snack (preferably crackers or something healthy - NO JUNK FOOD).

If you missed the meeting don"t worry you can sign up as late as 4 weeks after the first day of practice. Just review the Boys Parent Meeting and bring ALL the paperwork on your first day.

Summer camp will be July 12- Aug 28 M-F 4:30-6:30. Sat at 7:00am. You can sign up as late as 4 weeks after the first day of practice.

IMPORTANT POINT INFORMATION

I use a point system to determine who goes on our trip to Mammoth and Oregon. So here is how you can start earning points. This year I will be giving out 5 points for a parent at the parent meeting. I will also be giving 5 points each for the student contract, clearance-card, and summer fees turned in at the parent meeting. The physical will be worth 20 points if you get it done May 22nd at Edison from 12:00pm-4:00pm!!! After July 12th you will get 1 point for each one! If you are new and join the team late you will have one week to turn in the student contract, clearance-card, and summer fees. The physical is due the first day you come out.

 

GETTING READY FOR SUMMER!!

If you want to have a great season then you need to get started now!! To make sure you get off to a great start you will need to first understand how to approach your season. For a basic overview and understanding read Training Cornerstones. It will help give you insight into what we expect from you!!

The next step is to start with your training schedule. This schedule is based on time so it works for everyone!! Yes it is for the new guys too!!

When we meet on July 12th we will need to know how much running you have done and how you responded to the running. I order to do that you will need to write down the time you spent running and your resting heart rate. We will be tracking it all summer so get familar with it. Use the heart rate chart to record everything!!

A good stretching routine is important to maintain good flexability (page 1,2,3,4). There are 39 stretches but you don't need to do all of them in one day. Change it up from day to day and make sure you get a good full body stretch. Preform each stretch gently and slowly and avoid any bouncing or jerky movements. Stretch only to the point where you can feel tension in the muscle group and never to the point of pain. Breathe slowly and deeply while preforming each stretch. Read each description and view the accompanying picture. Hold each stretch for 20 to 30 sec. Relax for 10 to 15 seconds between each stretch. Preform each stretch 2 to 3 times. Stretching exercises should only be preformed after a run or warm-up.
