Summer Training

GETTING READY FOR SUMMER!

Recommended training prior to the start of camp. Also it's recommended to read the "Cornerstones of Training" and "Stretching Routines" under the Running Resources Page.

As for paces, the following are some recommended times. Do not try and go faster than indicated unless you directly talk with Coach Brierly. The goal of the runs is to feel comfortable. We have a long season and this portion is just about base building and gaining strength. Faster paces will come eventually. All varsity level boys should be around 7:00-7:30 and other returning boys should be between 7:20-8:00. All new/incoming boys should hopefully be anywhere between 7:30-8:30. Varsity level girls should be trying to run at 7:30-7:50/mile pace. All other returning girls should be anywhere between 7:459:30/mile depending on what feels comfortable and past history. All new/incoming girls should be at least anywhere between 8:00-10:00/mile. You should never feel like you're doing a workout, and your paces will vary depending on past history of running.

June 22 – G 1 – 5 miles, G 2 – 4 miles, G 3,4 – 3 miles, G 5 – 2 miles
June 23 – G 1,2 – 3 miles, G 3,4 – 2 miles, G 5 – 1 mile 
June 24 – G 1 – 5 miles, G 2,3,4 – 4 miles, G 5 – 2 miles
June 25 – G 1,2,3,4,5 – 2 miles
June 26 – G 1 – 7 miles, G 2 – 6 miles, G 3 – 5 miles, G 4 – 4 miles, G 5 – 3 miles

June 28 – G 1,2,3 – 3 miles, G 4 – 2 miles, G 5 – 1 mile
June 29 – G 1 – 6 miles, G 2 – 5 miles, G 3 – 4 miles, G 4,5 – 3 miles
June 30 – G 1 – 4 miles, G 2,3 – 3 miles, G 4 – 2 mile, G 5 – 1 mile
July 1 – G 1 – 6 miles, G 2 – 5 miles, G 3,4 – 4 miles, G 5 – 3 miles
